Cross Curriculum Projects

On this page are details of the projects funded by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Lifelong Learning Network.

Each project aims to further one or more of the HI-LLN’s main objectives, such as creating collaborative work between training providers and businesses or establishing new ways to improve the career progression of vocational and work-based learners.

PROJECT 1: Developing a Foundation degree or equivalent vocational qualification.

PROJECT 2: Accrediting Chamber of Commerce business improvement courses to enable progression to FE and HE courses.

PROJECT 3: Working with self-employed trainers on a fast track to the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) certificate.

PROJECT 4: Developing a strategy to develop the HE study skills of staff with vocational experience who are aiming to study at university.

PROJECT 5: Creating degree modules as well as the relevant bridging course required in order to fill gaps in staff development.

PROJECT 6: Creating an equivalent to the well used “Access to Higher Education” Diploma for use by students wishing to prepare for study at Masters level.

PROJECT 7: Research project that looks at the possible routes into Higher Education from Apprenticeships, maps possible routes and discovers how progression is viewed by apprentices.

PROJECT 8: Targeting people who are likely to have limited access to information about HE to raise their awareness of the opportunities for higher level study.

PROJECT 9: Exploring what barriers exist preventing ex-offenders from accessing HE and looking into the suitability of current Information, Advice and Guidance for this group of potential students.

PROJECT 10: Boosting the HE opportunities for a target group of Apprentices by mapping their experience for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) towards the Access to Higher Education Diploma. The project then created a bridging  course to enable them to achieve the full Access Diploma.

PROJECT 11: The purpose of this project is to improve apprentice progression to HE by creating a route from the Advanced to Higher Apprentice level, developing bridging courses and a Foundation degree as part of the Higher Apprenticeship Framework.

PROJECT 12: Understanding and delivering the training needs of a group of related organisations.
