Accrediting Chamber of Commerce business improvement courses to enable progression to FE and HE courses.

WHO IS IT FOR?: The information here will be useful for any organisation wishing to accredit their courses and ensure the learning they offer can lead to Further and Higher Education, including other Chambers of Commerce.

CASE STUDY: Developed with the Isle of Wight College in liaison with the Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce.

ABOUT: The purpose of this project was to establish a method of accrediting the Chamber’s business improvement courses with small recognised chunks of learning - that can give access to a Further and Higher Education qualification. Courses were mapped against National Occupational Standards (NOS) in Management. The NOS were then mapped into NVQ3 and 4 in Management enabling a fast track route to these qualifications. The NVQ4 has been recognised as a route into a Foundation degree in Management with a local university that has offered CATS points against certain combinations of NVQ4 units.
