Projects
Working with a set of employers to develop a Foundation degree.
WHO IS IT FOR?: Any education institution, training provider or employer wanting to explore the benefits of developing a course like a Foundation degree in partnership with a group of similar employers.
CASE STUDY: The case study was developing a Foundation degree in Radio Production and was led by Farnborough College of Technology.
ABOUT: The aim was to build on the college’s existing links with radio stations to create a new Foundation degree in Radio Production for a September 2010 start. The project involved working with radio stations to develop the course and integrate work-based learning and live briefs as well as working with FE and Sixth Form partners to offer staff training. A live FM broadcast licence was used to take radio out to the Sixth Forms and FE providers as part of the course development. This project is an example of how an FE provider can use its strengths and good industry links to create new courses in line with industry needs.
