Projects
Boosting the HE opportunities for a target group of Apprentices by mapping their experience for Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL) towards the Access to Higher Education Diploma. The project then created a bridging course to enable them to achieve the full Access Diploma.
WHO IS IT FOR?: Anyone that would benefit from helping a target group of vocational learners access university.
CASE STUDY: Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) led this project which aimed to increase the number of apprentices that progress to HE.
ABOUT: Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) mapped the Access Diploma – recognised and accepted by most universities – against apprenticeships at Level 3, which will allow apprentices to include their work as APL (Accreditation of Prior Learning) against the Access Diploma. BCoT has also created a short course that apprentices can do in their spare time that will enable them to get the rest of the skills needed for the Access Diploma. This means that with just a bit of extra work apprentices can get two qualifications; their apprenticeship and the Access Diploma.
