Construction is one of the UK’s biggest exports, generating over £1 billion a year. A career in this industry offers plenty of scope for progression with people starting out as bricklayers and plasterers moving into engineering and site management roles. Working in construction also offers a great deal of variety with projects ranging from hospitals and shopping centres to football stadiums and theatres.

This Curriculum Group encompasses 5 Further Education colleges and 3 Higher Education Institutions from the HI-LLN members and includes all courses within the Construction departments at each of these institutions.

This group meets regularly to discuss related issues and plan projects that will assist the progression of vocational learners. Its members consist of: Eastleigh College, Southampton City College, Basingstoke College of Technology, Highbury College, Isle of Wight College, Portsmouth University, Southampton Solent University, Southampton University.
