VQ Day and Stakeholders Conference
Exceptional vocational students from the region were rewarded at our special VQ Day celebration on Wednesday 24 June 2009 at the Novotel Hotel in Southampton.
The presentation was held as part of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Lifelong Learning Network’s third and final annual Stakeholders Conference.
VQ Day is a national event – launched last year – that promotes and celebrates vocational achievements. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Lifelong Learning Network supports the vision of VQ Day which is why we held our very own VQ Day presentation.
Our four winners have excelled in their vocational studies and have gone that extra mile to achieve these results.
VQ Day winners:
- Tracy Audin - from the University of Portsmouth
- Caroline Priston - from St Vincent College
- Mary-Grace Rae - from Fareham College
- Steve Middleton - from Southampton Solent University (unable to attend on the day)
Our annual conference is an opportunity to celebrate our successes and look ahead to future trends likely to affect the education sector. The theme this year was "Progress - Vocational Learners and Higher Education" and included presentations and workshops focussing on what has been learned by LLNs locally and nationally on the subject of HE progression for vocational and work-based learners.
The keynote speakers were Dr. Geoff Hayward, of the University of Oxford, talking about the "Degrees for Success" project and Prof. John Konrad, who spoke about approaches to ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’.
