Training the Trainers

The importance of higher level training for UK industry was the key topic of the HI-LLN’s ‘Train the Trainers’ event held at the Highfield House Hotel in July.

Trainers from across the region joined in with discussions about why UK managers should be gaining higher level qualifications and why the training being delivered is important. Tips were given on how to develop training programmes by understanding how to use National Occupational Standards.

This was followed with a taster training session of the PTLL award (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector). Attendees proved that trainers have a great sense of humour as they joined in with fascinating tasks that included trying to read and write backwards and have a conversation while rubbing their ears.

These exercises were used to demonstrate the different needs of some learners that will pose a challenge to trainers. Finding out what someone’s learning needs are, understanding them and finding a solution was part of this fascinating presentation by Sally Simms.

All trainers working with management courses are welcome to work with the HI-LLN. Contact Jan Wise for more information about this event and for future event dates.
