The HI-LLN is working with its partners to develop courses aimed at industry sectors that would benefit from having established routes through education for new and existing employees.

The project is funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) until November 2009. HEFCE

Who is involved in the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Lifelong Learning Network?

The HI-LLN is led by Southampton Solent University. The partners engaged in the network include all Higher Education Institutions and Further Education partner networks in Hampshire and Isle of Wight as well as a wide range of other organisations such as local authorities, sector skills councils and training providers.


Which sectors will the Network focus on?

The HI-LLN will work to develop opportunities in the following sectors, which have been identified as of high priority to the area: Business & Management, Construction, Creative Industries, Engineering, Health & Social Care, Retail & Commercial Enterprises, and Childhood Youth & Community Studies.

Our aim

The primary aims of the HI-LLN are:

  • To enhance progression and curriculum development though co-ordinated curriculum planning
  • To deliver flexible and effective progression routes in identified subject areas
  • To enhance capacity and information sharing through staff development
  • To strengthen communication for and between learners, employers and providers, and to promote learning and progression opportunities through the provision of effective advice and guidance provision
  • To ensure the effective dissemination of information and to promote learning between the partners through the development of meaningful tracking, evaluation and dissemination systems
